Rotational Programs

Engineering Development Program (EDP)

The SPX Engineering Development Program (EDP) provides technical hands-on experience along with quality educational opportunities. The two-year program offers two tracks: manufacturing and product design.

  • The manufacturing track enables industrial, manufacturing and mechanical engineers the opportunity to participate in lean manufacturing, supply chain, quality engineering and product design. Each rotational assignment is designed to help develop skills in areas such as lean enterprise, capacity development, failure modes and effect analysis.

  • The product design track allows design engineers to participate in product design, new product development, applications engineering and lean manufacturing. Each rotation offers opportunities to develop skills in analytical modeling, project management, test fixture design and instrumentation and quality function deployment, among others.

All participants also have the opportunity to work at more than one site location for optimal technical training including possible international assignments.  In addition to hands-on learning, each participant will attend lean certification training and leadership training as well as many more networking and development opportunities within the SPX organization.

"The Engineering Development Program has been a challenge and a learning experience. I have been exposed to different professional engineers specializing in product design, new product development and lean manufacturing.

Not long after I started I found myself conducting meetings, leading projects and designing wiring diagrams for some of our premier mobile heaters.

The program has not only developed my engineering capabilities, it has given me the vision of where my career path can lead. I find myself very fortunate to be a part of SPX. It’s a strong company with ongoing growth that will continue to meet the unique needs of our customers."
