With its theme of “All Aboard for Top Performance,” SPX Cooling Technologies participated in the annual International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating (AHR) Expo 2015.
AHR Expo is the largest meeting of HVAC professionals in the world. Held in Chicago Jan. 26-28, 2015, the show attracted more than 62,000 attendees this year, including consulting and specifying engineers, mechanical contractors, architects, and building facilities managers.
SPX used the trade show as an opportunity to showcase its new Marley MH fluid cooler with copper heat exchange coils. The copper coils provide CTI-certified performance up to 15 percent higher than similar, galvanized steel coils. This means cooling towers need less fan power, can be built shorter and in a smaller footprint and have lower coil volumes. Additionally, the corrosion rate can be half that of steel’s.
SPX also featured its Marley NC cooling tower with controls, aftermarket parts and services, APV plate heat exchangers as well as Recold® fluid coolers and evaporative condensers. The SPX exhibit team’s efforts helped generate more than 600 customer contacts at its booth.
As a tribute to the new copper coils, a copper theme was used throughout the booth. Pre-show mailers from SPX promoted the “Copper Conductor” and invited attendees to visit the team and enter a drawing for a copper “Marley mug.” Free, locally brewed ale was also served during a “happy hour” at the SPX booth on two nights.
Kent Martens, chief technical advisor at SPX Cooling Technologies, presented an overview of cooling tower technology and applications at his “Cooling Tower Fundamentals” discussion on behalf of the Cooling Technologies Institute. Martens went over common cooling tower terms, how cooling towers work; the most common configurations used today and design considerations for properly applying cooling towers on HVAC and light industrial systems.
SPX also hosted its annual Rep Breakfast Tuesday at the Westin Michigan Avenue Hotel. It was attended by approximately 200 SPX Cooling Technologies commercial directors, regional managers and sales representative firm employees. Rep Council Meetings with the HVAC and Light Industrial Council and SPX’s newly formed Power and Heavy Industrial Rep Council were also held in Chicago.
SPX plans to exhibit at next year’s AHR Expo which is scheduled to take place in Orlando January 25-27, 2016.
