No service or job is so urgent and important that work cannot be performed in a safe manner. Flash Technology embraces this philosophy. All Flash employees are responsible for adopting safe work practices in every aspect of their roles. To reinforce this philosophy, Flash Technology developed a safety committee comprising employees from every department charged with establishing and executing good safety systems. Along the way, they learned that safety is also rewarding, as evidenced by Flash Technology\u2019s participation in several leading safety initiatives.<\/p>\n
In May 2018, members of the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA) visited the Flash Technology facility in Franklin, TN to evaluate the organization\u2019s commitment to continuous workplace safety. As a result, Flash Technology was granted an extension of its Volunteer STAR (safety, training, accountability, reliability) certification for the next two years. Flash Technology is one of only 36 sites in the state of Tennessee with this certification.<\/p>\n
Tower climbing is a rare occupation with an estimated 10,000 climbers in the industry. Climbers have a mortality rate approximately 10 times that of construction; nearly 100 tower climbing deaths have been reported over the past nine years.<\/p>\n
In an effort to decrease the number of climber deaths and help tower companies operate safely, NATE STAR asks participants to train their employees, perform site safety audits and implement safety programs. Because of their compliance to the NATE STAR requirements, Flash Technology Field Services earned a NATE STAR certification renewal.<\/p>\n
On Tower Technician Appreciation Day, May 8, 2018, Flash Technology Field Services took time out for the annual National Safety Stand Down. Launched in 2014, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration created the event to drive awareness for fall prevention and protection in construction-related industries. Each year during the Stand Down, the Field Services team reviews Flash\u2019s fall protection and tower rescue safety policy, inspects climber rigging and updates tailgate meeting and site inspection checklists. Field crews also inspect vehicles and receive driver safety instruction.<\/p>\n
